To make decisions that benefit the business as a whole, rather than just individual departments. It's about breaking down silos, streamlining processes, and fostering collaboration across the board. Work management solutions have become the backbone of successful organisations in today's fast-paced digital landscape. W hat exactly is a work management solution? Simply put, it's a comprehensive system that helps teams plan, organise, and execute their work efficiently. Today, mastering these tools isn't just a nice-to-have—it's crucial for staying competitive in an increasingly remote and distributed work environment. Why Mastering Work Management Tools is Crucial? Advanced Reporting and Analytics Jira's reporting features are a goldmine for data-driven decision-making. You can use burndown charts to track sprint progress, velocity charts to measure team productivity, and cumulative flow diagrams to identify bottlenecks in your process. Confluence Atlassian uses page-led collaboration. Creating pages in Confluence to facilitate synchronous meetings. This is how it works for these real-time meetings. Before a scheduled meeting, create a document describing everything that will be discussed. Begin the meeting by sharing the page with all the attendees. Begin the meeting by conducting a silent pre-read for the first 5 minutes to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Use the remainder of the meeting to align on the topic and resolve apparent difficulties through thorough questioning and debate. As businesses grapple with the relentless pace of digital transformation, traditional IT service management (ITSM) approaches are proving inadequate.    A recent study by the World Economic Forum revealed  that over 85% of organisations recognise the increased adoption of new technologies and expanding digital access as key drivers of transformation. This article talks about the world of Modern Service Management, exploring how it's reshaping the IT landscape and why it's becoming an essential skill for forward-thinking IT professionals. What is Modern Service Management Microsoft Enterprise Services  in early 2016 defined Modern Service Management (MSM) as a strategic approach to IT service delivery that emphasises customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business value. Unlike traditional service management methodologies, MSM embraces flexibility and innovation. It integrates seamlessly with change management practices to ensure smooth transitions during organizational transformations. Modern Service Management (MSM) is a strategic approach to IT service delivery that focuses on delivering value to the business and its customers. It is a departure from traditional IT Service Management (ITSM) methods, which were often rigid and bureaucratic. MSM emphasises agility, automation, and a customer-centric approach. How Modern Service Management Works? MSM is built on a foundation of continuous improvement and collaboration. It involves: Understanding business needs:  Modern Service Management starts with a deep understanding of the business objectives and aligning IT services to support them. Adopting a customer-centric approach: MSM puts the customer at the centre of everything. IT services should be designed and delivered to meet customer needs and expectations. Leveraging technology: It makes use of advanced technologies like automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to improve efficiency and effectiveness. For example, using AI-powered chatbots for first-line support or implementing cloud-based service management platforms. • Streamlining Workflows with Atlassian Command Line Interface (CLI) Tools

If you are a developer or administrator working with Atlassian tools, read this. As someone who has worked extensively with Atlassian platforms like Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence, I know firsthand how tedious manual workflows can become over time. That’s exactly why Command Line Interface (CLI) tools feel like a game-changer, especially when trying to streamline repetitive tasks. These tools provide an efficient way to automate processes, integrate systems, and manage data through simple, text-based commands. Exploring the capabilities of Atlassian CLI tools Atlassian CLI tools truly excel at optimizing workflows and enhancing productivity. Whether you’re managing Jira issues, automating sprint planning, or working through extensive documentation in Confluence, CLI tools deliver the flexibility and functionality you need to handle it all. From assigning tasks and transitioning issues to cloning workspaces, they’re indispensable companions for anyone aiming to maximize efficiency using Atlassian products. Let’s dig into how these tools can transform your workload. Jira Command Line Interface (CLI) Basic Commands I’ve found that the Jira Command Line Interface (CLI) simplifies a lot of daily tasks by offering a range of basic commands. For example, the `jira issue` command makes managing Jira issues effortless. With this command, you can create, assign, clone, comment, delete, edit, link, move, and view issues—all within the project you’re working on. Here are some specific ways this can be used: Want to create a new issue? Use the `jira issue create` command, then customize it with flags to include specifics like the issue type, summary, priority, or even the assignee. If you need to get a list of issues in your project, the `jira issue list` command comes in handy. You can filter the results based on criteria, such as status, assignee, or creation date. For example, you could retrieve high-priority issues created this month with the label "backend" using this command: `$ jira issue list -yHigh -s"To Do" --created month -lbackend -a$(jira me)`. Other useful commands include `jira issue assign` to delegate an issue to someone, `jira issue clone` to duplicate it, and `jira issue link` for connecting two issues. Advanced Usage As helpful as those basic commands are, the advanced features of the Jira CLI open doors to more intricate interactions. One standout feature is leveraging JQL (Jira Query Language) for searching and filtering issues. With the `--jql` or `-q` option, you can run precise JQL queries within the project’s context. For instance, if your goal is to list issues in a project where the summary contains the word "cli," you’d use a command like: `$ jira issue list -q "summary ~ cli"`. The CLI also offers flexibility in how issues are displayed. You can switch to a plain table view, which I find helpful when scripting, and customize the columns you need. You can even show all fields completely with options like `--plain` and `--no-truncate`. Need to manage sprints? Commands like `jira sprint list` let you view sprints either in an explorer-style display or a table view. You can even filter issues within specific sprints, depending on your criteria. Scripting and Automation For bigger projects (or repetitive tasks), the Jira CLI really shines with its scripting and automation capabilities. It's an excellent tool for automating recurring jobs and connecting Jira to other platforms and tools. I’ve used it to save hours by creating scripts with replacement variables or using find/replace functions to handle hundreds of actions at once. Commands like `run` and its variants—such as `runFromList`, `runFromCSV`, and `runFromSQL`—are perfect for advanced scripting automation. The CLI also handles advanced data imports and exports remarkably well. It lets you schedule imports or exports to automatically run when needed, which is valuable for tasks like pre-migration clean-ups or auditing. Another bonus is how easily it integrates with tools like monday.com Work Platform | Made For Work, Designed To Love   or databases such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL , and Oracle. For developers like me, the ability to integrate the Jira CLI within tools such as VS  Code is a game-changer. You can write and execute commands right inside your coding environment—streamlining your workflow significantly. Bitbucket CLI Operations Navigating Repositories The Bitbucket Command Line Interface (CLI) has significantly simplified the process of managing repositories, which previously seemed daunting. Users can now efficiently perform repository tasks, such as listing all repositories associated with a user or team, by executing a straightforward command with the bitbucket  client. This enhancement has improved the overall experience of navigating and managing repositories. One of my go-to commands for this is `$ bitbucket repo list`, which leverages the Bitbucket API to fetch repository data instantly. No more clicking through menus to find the information I need. Creating new repositories directly from the CLI is another favorite feature of mine. It’s all about defining the repository name, description, and other parameters, then letting the CLI handle the API interaction. A typical example looks like this: `$ bitbucket repo create --name my-repo --description "My new repository"`. Easy, right? And once your repository is set up, cloning it to your local system becomes a breeze. A single command like `$ git clone ` ensures you’re ready to jump into code changes without delay. Managing Branches and Pull Requests Branching and handling pull requests can sometimes feel like a maze, but the Bitbucket CLI simplifies the entire process. You can create branches using Git commands that work seamlessly with the CLI. Here’s what I do: To create a new branch, I start with `$ git branch ` and follow it up with `$ git checkout ` to switch over. Then, a quick push to Bitbucket with `$ git push --set-upstream origin ` ensures everything is synced. It’s straightforward once you get the hang of it. And if you’re like me and prefer automating repetitive tasks, the CLI’s pull request management feels like a godsend. Once I’ve made and committed my changes, I use a command to create pull requests effortlessly: `$ bitbucket pr create --title "Feature Branch" --description "Changes for new feature" --from --to `. No need to toggle between the browser and terminal for this. Integrations with CI /CD Pipelines When I started integrating the Bitbucket CLI with my Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, the results were nothing short of transformative. By coupling the CLI with tools like Bamboo or Jenkins, you can automate builds, tests, and deployments seamlessly. For example, the `bamboo` client lets you manage plans, queue builds, and even administer Bamboo directly—ensuring that every code change I push triggers automated workflows. That’s just the start, though. For bulk operations, the CLI’s support for external data inputs like CSV  files or databases really shines. Whether it’s executing `runFromSql`, `runFromCsv`, or `runFromList`, these actions make handling complex CI/CD workflows surprisingly simple. Automating tasks in this way not only saves time but also minimizes human error when managing multiple stages of a pipeline. Confluence CLI for Documentation Page Creation and Management Some tools are worth celebrating, and the Confluence Command Line Interface (CLI) is one of them. It's your secret weapon when it comes to organizing and automating documentation within Confluence. One of the standout features is its ability to handle page creation and management without a fuss. Using the Confluence CLI, you can create new pages, update existing ones, or even clear out outdated pages in bulk. The `content add` command simplifies the process of adding new pages with your specified content, while the `content update` command makes updating existing pages feel seamless. Beyond just updating and creating pages, the CLI makes navigating large spaces a breeze. Commands like `content list` allow you to view all pages within a space, helping you stay organized even in sprawling documentation projects. If you've ever felt bogged down by manual page management, this tool is your answer. Automating Documentation Tasks Here’s the game-changer: automation. The Confluence CLI turns repetitive documentation tasks into quick wins. Whether it's bulk edits, massive updates, or detailed find-and-replace operations, the CLI does the heavy lifting for you. Thanks to actions like `run` and `runFrom`—including variations like `runFromList`, `runFromCSV`, and `runFromSQL—you can execute hundreds of actions with a single, well-constructed command. This makes even the most complex documentation automations manageable. Another huge advantage is its advanced capabilities for importing and exporting data. This is gold for tasks like pre-migration clean-ups or auditing documentation. You can set imports or exports to run automatically, keeping your documentation current and ready to integrate with external tools or data sources like PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle. Collaborative Features Collaboration can sometimes be chaotic, but the Confluence CLI has your back by making teamwork more efficient. Integration with other Atlassian tools, like Jira, expands its usefulness far beyond just documentation. The Jira CLI syncs actions across platforms, simplifying admin tasks and refining workflows to get the most out of both tools. Even better, the Confluence CLI doesn't stop with Atlassian products. It integrates smoothly with other platforms, like monday.com Work Platform | Made For Work, Designed To Love  , to scale admin tasks and build powerful automations that synchronize your systems. This ensures everyone on your team stays up-to-date, so collaboration on documentation becomes second nature. For developers, the integration with VS Code, thanks to the ACLI  Companion, is a treat. Running and managing commands from within the source code editor adds a layer of convenience—allowing documentation updates to naturally fit into development workflows. Conclusion When it comes to streamlining workflows across Atlassian products, the Atlassian Command Line Interface (CLI) tools are truly a game-changer. These tools have the ability to transform how you automate, integrate, and manage data across platforms like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket—all through straightforward, text-based commands. The biggest takeaways for me were how these tools allow you to not only automate repetitive tasks but also connect seamlessly with other tools and databases. Advanced scripting features even let you perform bulk operations with ease, cutting down on manual effort and simplifying otherwise complex workflows. The platform allows for digital signatures to secure records, automated alerts for compliance updates, and integrated reporting capabilities, which streamline compliance management. By centralizing compliance tasks, Jira improves visibility and accountability, making it an essential tool for navigating regulatory requirements in financial services. Tailored workflows to manage compliance requests securely, adhering to regulations like EBA  and BaFin standards.   Improving Risk Assessment and Mitigation Workflows Effective risk assessment and mitigation are crucial for the stability and success of banking operations, and tools like Jira facilitate this process throughout the project lifecycle. Banks can create a custom issue type for 'Risk' in Jira to differentiate risks from other project items, allowing for focused management and tracking. Custom fields can be configured to capture essential risk details, including categories, likelihood, potential impact, and mitigation actions. Additionally, Jira supports various plugins for industry-standard risk management frameworks and offers advanced reporting and dashboard capabilities for real-time risk monitoring. The linking feature in Jira enables clear visibility of how identified risks are addressed through specific tasks, with automation capabilities ensuring the status of risks is always up-to-date.   “We saw Jira Service Management combine the ability to create workflows and Jira task management features with an easy-to-customize self-service portal, allowing collaborators to easily seek help.” JEAN ANDR É GONZALEZ, Business Analysis Manager, Kushki   How do you know if Jira Implementation was successful for your financial institution? In order to thoroughly evaluate the effectiveness and overall performance of Jira Service Management, it is essential for teams to concentrate  on several key metrics . These metrics provide insight into various aspects of service delivery and user experience. These metrics can serve as critical indicators of how well the service is functioning and where improvements may be needed. Customer Satisfaction ( CSAT ) One of the primary metrics that teams should focus on is customer satisfaction, often abbreviated as CSAT. This metric measures the happiness and satisfaction levels of users with the service that has been provided to them. This can be gathered through various methods, including surveys and the use of Net Promoter Scores, which provide a quantitative measure of customer loyalty and satisfaction. Service Quality Another important metric to consider is service quality. This metric encompasses a range of indicators that track the effectiveness of the service being delivered. Key components of service quality include ticket closure rates, which measure how quickly issues are resolved, response times that indicate how promptly teams are addressing user enquiries, and the overall effectiveness of issue resolution. Monitoring these metrics helps teams understand the quality of service they are providing. SLA  Adherence Service Level Agreement (SLA) Adherence is a crucial metric that teams must monitor to ensure compliance with established service-level agreements. These agreements outline the expected response and resolution times for various types of service requests. By tracking SLA adherence, teams can identify whether they are meeting their commitments to customers and where there may be gaps in service delivery. Productivity Metrics Productivity metrics are vital for assessing the efficiency of the team. This includes evaluating first-contact resolution rates, which measure how often issues are resolved during the initial interaction with the user, as well as the frequency of follow-ups that may be necessary. These metrics provide valuable insights into how effectively the team is managing service requests and maintaining productivity levels. Operational Efficiency Finally, teams should assess operational efficiency by evaluating potential bottlenecks in workflows and making informed decisions regarding resource allocation. Utilising reporting tools can help identify areas where processes may be slowing down, enabling teams to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency. By focusing on these performance metrics, teams can gain a comprehensive understanding of how Jira Service Management is performing in the financial services sector, allowing for informed decision-making and continuous improvement in service delivery. Conclusion The agile transformation in banking not only accelerates time-to-market for new products but also enhances compliance, risk management, and overall operational efficiency. • Continia: Prevent Invoice Fraud and Protect Your Profits

According to  Flagright , the average cost of an invoice fraud incident for a U.S. company is around $133,000 per occurrence, with many businesses experiencing multiple attempts each year.  Invoice fraud is a silent thief, lurking within your everyday transactions. Businesses lose significant sums to fraudulent invoices, often unaware until the damage is done. Are you confident your current system would actually  notify you if something was wrong with an incoming invoice before  it's paid? The Pain Points Are Real Financial Bleeding:  The most obvious pain? Money down the drain. Every fraudulent invoice paid is a direct hit to your hard-earned revenue. Imagine unknowingly paying for goods or services never rendered, or to a scammer posing as your legitimate supplier. That's real cash lost – money that should be fueling your business, not lining a fraudster's pockets. Time Wasted:  Discovering fraud after  payment is a nightmare. Your team is suddenly thrown into crisis mode: investigating suspicious transactions, contacting banks, and trying to claw back lost funds. This is time ripped away from core business activities – time that could be spent on growth, not damage control. Manual checks are slow and prone to error – leaving you vulnerable. Eroding Trust & Reputation:  Significant fraud incidents can damage your relationships. Suppliers might question your operational integrity. Internally, trust can erode within your finance team if mistakes are made. Nobody wants to be known as the company that got scammed. Continia: Your Early Warning System But what if you could be alerted instantly  if an invoice looks suspicious? That’s the power of Continia. It’s not just about streamlining invoice processing; it’s about proactive fraud prevention. Continia's intelligent system actively monitors incoming invoices and immediately notifies you if something is wrong. Think about these scenarios Continia can flag, sending you crucial notifications: Sudden Changes in Bank Details:  Is a supplier's bank account information drastically different on an invoice? Continia can alert you to this red flag, potentially stopping bank account switching fraud in its tracks. Duplicate Invoices Slipping Through:  Accidentally paying the same invoice twice? Continia can identify potential duplicates and notify you before  you authorize payment, preventing overpayments and reconciliation headaches. Unusual Invoice Amounts or Patterns:  Does an invoice amount drastically deviate from typical invoices from a specific supplier? Continia can flag these anomalies, prompting you to investigate potentially inflated or fraudulent charges. Continia prevents invoice fraud by securing Accounts Payable. Intelligent OCR  and verification check invoice details against vendor records, flagging discrepancies like changed bank accounts or missing VAT. Multi-approver workflows and a secure archive further enhance security, catching fraudulent invoices early. Don't wait for invoice fraud to hit your bottom line before taking action. • Eliminate Missing Receipts with Continia Expense Management

Chasing employees for missing receipts is a soul-crushing task. Every month, finance teams worldwide face the same frustrating ritual: emails flying, phone calls made, all to track down those elusive pieces of paper that validate company spending. Is your current expense management process still relying on this outdated, time-wasting hunt? The Havoc Missing Receipts Cause Hours Wasted on Admin Busywork:  Imagine your finance team – skilled professionals – spending hours  each month just nagging employees for receipts. Think about it: tracking down a missing lunch receipt, a forgotten taxi fare… it's not strategic work; it's administrative quicksand. This is time ripped away from higher-value tasks like financial analysis and strategic planning. Expense Reports Become a Burden:  For employees, expense reporting can already feel like a chore. Adding the stress of constantly being chased for missing receipts makes it worse. Think about the employee who’s already busy traveling or closing a deal, now having to frantically search pockets, bags, or email inboxes for a receipt from weeks ago. It creates friction and resentment, turning a necessary process into a negative experience. Impacting the Bottom Line:  Missing receipts don't just cause admin headaches; they impact the business. Delays in collecting receipts lead to delayed expense report processing, which means delayed reimbursements for employees. Incomplete expense reports also make it harder to get a clear, accurate picture of company spending, impacting budgeting and financial forecasting. And let's not forget potential compliance issues and audit risks down the line.   Continia Expense Management What if you could eliminate the receipt chase altogether? That’s the promise of Continia Expense Management. It's designed to make receipt capture seamless and painless for everyone, effectively putting an end to the "missing receipt" nightmare. Here's how Continia transforms the receipt process and eliminates those pain points: Mobile Receipt Capture :  With the Continia mobile app, employees can capture receipts instantly  – right at the point of purchase. Just snap a photo with their smartphone. No more piles of paper receipts, no more lost slips, and no frantic searches later. Receipts are captured and submitted within seconds. "Instead of shoving a crumpled receipt in his pocket, Mark (the Sales Manager) can now take a quick photo of it with the Continia app as soon as he gets it from the client lunch. The receipt is instantly digitized and linked to his expense report – done and dusted in under 10 seconds." Automatic Data Extraction (OCR):  Continia's intelligent Optical Character Recognition (OCR) automatically extracts key data from receipts – date, amount, vendor, even tax information. This eliminates manual data entry, reducing errors and saving your finance team significant time. Digital Workflow & Automated Reminders – Gentle Nudges, Not Frantic Chases:  Continia provides a clear digital workflow for expense approvals. Managers receive automated notifications to review and approve reports. For the rare instance of a truly missing receipt in the system, Continia can send automated  gentle reminders directly to the employee, removing the burden from the finance team to personally chase. "If Mark forgets to submit a receipt (which is less likely with mobile capture!), Continia automatically sends him a friendly reminder notification within the app. The finance team are no longer the ‘bad guys’ chasing him; the system handles the gentle follow-up." Do this now Continia Expense Management automates expense reporting, saving time and reducing administrative burdens for employees and finance teams.
